November 21 will see the release of the remastered version of the album Some Girls (1978) by The Rolling Stones. As with a lot of re-releases, Some Girls will come out in various kinds of deluxe editions and a digital version and feature some previously unreleased tracks, one of which has already been revealed. It is the song No Spare Parts which has a calm, country touch to it. It was one of the many songs recorded during the sessions for the original version of Some Girls. According to Mick Jagger in his interview to Spinner, many songs were not completed during that period of time and the band had to work on them more to finish them fully for the remastered version of the record.

Apart from a dozen of unreleased tracks, deluxe editions of Some Girls will also include some commentary from the band’s writer Anthony DeCurtis and unseen photographs of The Rolling Stones.

Check out the track No Spare Parts below and see what you think.

We have three copies of this amazing BBC Drama DVD to giveaway. Through three parts and three of Britain’s best actresses gain insight into the life of the controversial and inspiring woman who led the United Kingdom for more than ten years as the BBC releases The Rise and Fall of Margaret Thatcher on DVD October 18.

Synopsis: Featuring three outstanding productions – The Long Walk to Finchley, The Falkland’s Play and Margaret – on two discs, this fascinating collection follows the political career of the former Prime Minister. Andrea Riseborough (Made in Dagenham, Happy Go Lucky), Patricia Hodge (The Legacy of Reginald Perrin, Miranda) and Lindsay Duncan (Doctor Who, Rome) respectively tackle the role of the Iron Lady in these films. Arriving at retail on October 18, The Rise and Fall of Margaret Thatcher is a must-own DVD set for all history buffs and Anglophiles alike.

Riseborough’s portrayal of a young Margaret Roberts in The Long Walk to Finchley, was hailed as “breathtaking, giving Thatcher humor, drive and real sex appeal” by the London Evening Standard. The intriguing film reveals her steely determination as an ambitious twenty-something research chemist on the first rungs of the ladder to Parliament. Eager to speak her mind and be selected to a “winnable” Tory seat in the 1950s, The Long Walk to Finchley imagines what might have gone on behind the scenes during Thatcher’s ten-year struggle to gain a seat in Parliament.

Lauded by The Guardian as, “a thrilling piece of drama which challenged prejudices and preconceptions,” The Falkland’s Play chronicles the backroom story of Margaret Thatcher’s war. Once deemed too controversial to produce, this compelling production depicts a gripping account of how the leaders at 10 Downing Street faced one of their biggest crises in foreign affairs.

Finally, Margaret examines the downfall of the Prime Minister after her election to a third term. One of the most formidable figures in British politics, the film ultimately reveals that the very aspects of her character that helped her secure power were also the ones that ensured her decline. The Daily Express praised the film as “riveting viewing…Lindsay Duncan plays her as sharp as a ferret, with the eyes of a lynx and the manner of an aged, furious tiger.”

Check out clips from the series below.
Ready to enter? All you have to do is enter your name and email address in the form below and that’s it! Be sure to check out the full terms and conditions and good luck, the giveaway ends on November 6nd, 2011@ 23:59pm EST.

I don’t think you can go too wrong when you have two unbelievable British dramas, one old, one new released in the same week. Lets start with the old first, and the classic 1970′s BBC seven part series, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, based on the 1974 British spy novel by John le Carré. Starring Alec Guinness (Star Wars, Lawrence of Arabia) in a BAFTA-winning role as George Smiley, a retired spymaster recruited to find a mole in the British intelligence service, this is a great way to get warmed up for the movie adaptation that hits the big screen on December 2.

I think it may be fair to say that the other DVD release of the week is also a classic, well an instant classic! The second series of Luther is out on DVD and this brilliant crime thriller starring Idris Elba (Takers & TV’s The Wire) certainly packs a punch. Elba is once again superb playing John Luther, a genius Detective Chief Inspector working & living on the edge, all while somehow still managing to maintain control!

Take a look at the synopsis and clip from each show below, and trust me when I say both are awesome!

Luther Season 2 – Luther is a gripping, psychological thriller driven by a brilliant and emotionally impulsive detective tormented by the darker side of humanity. Devastated by the brutal murder of his wife, DCI Luther has to continue policing in a very different world, fighting for his job and his freedom. With his old unit gone, he’s working in the newly created Serious and Serial unit which is headed by former police complaints officer Martin Schenk. Luther quickly gathers together a new team, rescuing his old partner Detective Justin Ripley from uniform, and it’s not long before they’re dealing with their first case. The sequel features two new distinctive and thrilling crime stories, which premiere in four parts, from creator and acclaimed suspense novelist Neil Cross.

Tinker Tailor Solider Spy – No doubt remains; a mole has infiltrated the highest level of the Circus, code name for British Secret Intelligence Service. Sidelined agent George Smiley is covertly tapped to root out the traitor-a task that requires an intensive dig through the labyrinths of Cold War espionage and his own past.

Three great movies arriving on DVD this week. There is urban action, urban comedy and something completely un-urban (is that a word?). First up is one of my favorite movies of this year, Attack The Block the hoodies vs aliens action, comedy, horror from the mind of Joe Cornish (The Adam & Joe Show). One of the most original movies of the year (see our review here), Attack The Block follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who try to defend their turf against an invasion of savage alien creatures, turning a South London apartment complex into an extraterrestrial warzone. Make sure you check out the awesome DVD trailer below, featuring the kick-ass score from Basement Jaxx!

Second up is Anuvahood, an Urban comedy by British actor Adam Deacon (Shank & TV’s Dead Set). With the movies that Deacon has featured in such as Kidulthood and Shank having started a new wave of films about urban British teens, Deacon now goes behind the camera as well as in front of it to bring us the Urban teen genres first spoof movie! The comedy focuses around the life of Kenneth (Deacon), as he follows his ultimate dream of becoming an MC! Jaime Winstone, Ollie Barbieri, Richard Blackwood & Ashley Walters also star and the movie has a very cool soundtrack featuring music from Tinie Tempah, Boy Better Know, Wiley and Dizzee Rascal.

Finally we have an animated classic with an all-star British voice cast. Based on the classic books by British author A.A.Milne, Winnie the Pooh makes a very welcome return to our screens. In the latest adaptation, Eyeore has lost his tail, and Winnie the Pooh and his friends hold a contest to get him a new one. British comedian John Cleese (Monty Python) narrates the classic tale and late night talk show host Craig Ferguson voices the role of Owl. This is Pooh back at his best, the classic Disney animation along with a charming story.

As always try before you buy and take a look at the synopsis and trailer from each movie below.

Attack The Block – From the producers of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, Attack The Block follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who try to defend their turf against an invasion of savage alien creatures, turning a South London apartment complex into an extraterrestrial warzone.

Anuvahood – The first ‘UK urban comedy’, from Adam Deacon, the star of Kidulthood and Shank. Meet Kenneth. He thinks he’s got the moves. He thinks he’s got swagger. He thinks he can spit bars. But in reality, he’s a Waseman! With the bailiffs banging on the door, parents screaming in his ear, and finding no luck with the ladies, he needs to fix up, and fast. When our boy starts selling weed to get himself out of trouble, local badman Tyrone is vex, opening up a world of hurt for Kenneth and his misfit crew. But he ain’t gonna go down without a fight. It’s time for him to get rich, or cry trying!
From the mind of Adam Deacon comes the UK’s first hilarious urban comedy, with a BIG cast including Femi Oyeniran, Jaime Winstone, Ollie Barbieri, Richard Blackwood & Ashley Walters, and featuring hot tunes from Tinie Tempah, Boy Better Know, Wiley and Dizzee Rascal. This ain’t just any hood, it’s Anuvahood!

Winnie The Pooh – With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. “Well a tail is either there or it isn’t there,” said Pooh. “And yours isn’t… there.” Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny.

Having been on tour for almost two years with their hugely successful fifth studio album The Resistance released back in 2009, Muse have headed back into the studio to start work on their follow up.
Speaking to Billboard, Muse manager Anthony Addis said

“They’ve now gone into the recording studio. The plan is to do it all in London… Hopefully, [the album] might come out October next year. They’ve written a lot of material already.”

Muse have long been hailed as one of the best live acts to see and going by their last tour, which was their most profitable, the band don’t look like there about to slow down. Having transitioned to arena size venues, Muse have become one of the few British bands to tap into the American market. Apart from their shear talent the alt rockers analyze each show, creating a database of what when right and what didn’t work so the next show will be even better. Muse have been doing this since the start to make sure their fans get the best experience at the best price.

Roll on October 2012 so we can check out new material from the band and look forward to the next world tour! Check them out below performing their big hit single Starlight live at Glastonbury.

With a couple of new British movies out this week it was no surprise to see a number of Brits hitting the US chat shows.

Johnny English Reborn was released (see review here) Friday so Rowan Atkinson spoke with the ladies of The View, while Orlando Bloom promoted The Three Musketeers (review here) with trips to Chelsea lately and Regis & Kelly.

With the British movie Shame out in December, Carey Mulligan had a natter with Craig Ferguson and British comedian Ricky Gervais, spent some time discussing what he’s up to with Regis & Kelly.

Finally you will know if you read this weeks Doctor Who roundup that Matt smith won at the Scream Awards last weekend, so he took time while in LA to have a bit of a natter with Whovian Craig Ferguson.

Rihanna and Calvin Harris stay at the top of the British singles chart this week as The Wanted almost snatch the number one with their new track Lightning landing at two.

You may remember last year British comedian Catherine Tate appearing on the US version of The Office, as she interviewed to be the replacement of Steve Carell’s character Micheal Scott. Well she may not have got the job, but she is heading back to Dunder Mifflin Sabre in Scranton to reprise her role as Nellie Bertram.

According to NBC’s press release Tate’s character Bertram will be hired by friend and Chairman of the Board Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates) as a misguided special projects manager working directly for the corporate office, who very much enjoys the favoritism received from Bennett.

One of the show’s executive producers Paul Liberstein had this to say about Tate reprising her role “Catherine is hysterical. We introduced her briefly in last season’s finale and knew she had to be a part of the show somehow. We’ll meet her again as corporate’s special projects manager, and her relationship with Robert California (James Spader) will be far from professional. We’re thrilled that she’s joining the cast”

Most of you will know Tate from either the multi-award-winning BBC comedy sketch series, The Catherine Tate Show, which made her a household name in the UK, or from playing Donna Noble (the Doctor’s companion) in the 4th series of Doctor Who. I think she will be a welcome addition to The Office, that in my opinion has been stuttering a little since the loss of Steve Carrell to Hollywood, in the very least it will get the very funny Tate a little more exposure in the US.

We have to wait until next year for Tate’s return to The Office during the second half of the eighth series, so in the meantime to refresh your memory, take a look at the first appearance on the show below.
