Casting Talk: Michael Fassbender Confirmed to Star in Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counselor’

We’ve already had news this month that Irish actor Michael Fassbender is to star in Ronan Bennettas’ Irish Myths, and now reports this week confirm that the Shame actor is set to star in Ridley Scott‘s upcoming drama, The Counselor.

Already teaming up with Scott in the upcoming sci-fi movie, Prometheus, set to be released later this year, Fassbender has now been attached to Scott’s latest project which, with screenplay written by famed author Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men), has been described as “No Country for Old Men on steroids”.

Concerning a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip his toe in the drug business without getting sucked down, Scott quickly attached himself to the project when McCarthy turned in his first script a few months ago, and Fassbender was in talks for starring in the film pretty soon after.

Production is set to begin on 1st May, and a number of high-profile actors are now in talks with Scott about joining the cast as the film’s villain, including possible candidates Jeremy Renner, Brad Pitt, and Bradley Cooper.

Whilst we will next see Fassbender in Scott’s Promethetheus on 8th June in the US, he is also set to re-team with Shame director Steve McQueen on the period picture, Twelve Years a Slave, which is also believed to start filming this year.
