Trailer & Images For New Series Of ‘Doc Martin’ Starring Martin Clunes

After more than two years since series four ended, Martin Clunes is back as Doctor Martin Ellingham in a brand new series of Doc Martin, that will air on ITV in the UK later this year, then presumably (and hopefully) on PBS stations sometime in 2012.

In the new series Dr Martin Ellingham’s truculent and tactless manner will once again upset the convivial community of the picture postcard village of Portwenn, but now the Doc has another dilemma: how to cope with being a new dad while trying to resume his highflying career as a surgeon.

Once again filmed amongst the stunning setting of the North Cornwall coast, series five of the show, that attracts over 10 million viewers in the UK and has built up a loyal following here in the US, will consist of eight 60 minute episodes.

The supporting cast will once again consist of Caroline Catz returning to play the mother of Doc Martin’s child, primary school headmistress, Louisa Glasson. Other returning cast members include Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, John Marquez and Selina Cadell.

Talking about filming the show again after a two year break Clunes says: “I missed being in Cornwall, and it has been wonderful to spend a few months in this beautiful part of the country. I am thrilled to have been able to work with such a fabulous cast, and on the exciting new storylines we have for this new series.”

Although we have no details as to when Doc Martin will be arriving on PBS, we thought you may like to see the first trailer and images from the new series. We are sure it will arrive on US shores eventually and so far all the series have been released on DVD here. Take a look at all the good stuff below (thanks to Lisa for the heads up) and as soon as we find out anything further we will let you know.

WGBH in Boston started to run “Doc Martin” over this last year, and I have found it to be absolutely delightful (and now I REALLY want to visit Cornwall). Really excited about the new series! Hopefully it will make it to PBS soon.

The music used in the trailer is ‘That Man’ by Caro Emerald – fantastic dutch singer.

HAHA George that is definitely a British thing, we keep our series short! Most of the time you are lucky if you get more than six!

I love the DOC and especially Louisa Glasson played by the brilliant actress, Caroline Catz. Can’t wait for PBS to air Series 5.
