British singing sensation Adele has set the internet a buzz with a hint that she might be recording the next James Bond theme!
Having appeared on Jonathan Ross’s new British chat show, the host asked the now global star what she will be recording next.
“Well, this is actually a theme. Wow, that’s really giving something away.” Adele replied.
“It’s a concept. One song.” she added as Ross started to hum the James Bond theme!
Whether Adele is recording the new theme song for the currently titled Bond 23, or whether she threw a red herring, the fit would undoubtedly be a great match. With Adele seeing extraordinary success not only from her debut album 19 but even more so from her latest album 21, the singer is at the top of her game and would line-up nicely along side other Bond performers such as Shirley Bassey, Sheena Easton, Lulu and of course the more pop inspired tunes from Paul and Linda McCartney and Duran Duran.
Jack White of The White Stripes and Alicia Keys collaborated on the last Bond theme for Quantum of Solace. The track titled Another Way to Die (probably because using ‘Quantum of Solace’ in the chorus was to difficult) was actually the first Bond theme to feature a duet.
Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse had recorded a demo for the film but the tune unfortunately never made it to fruition.
What do you think, is Adele the best person for the job to write the next Bond theme tune? To help you decide check out Adele performing her hit Someone Like You live at the recent VMA’s (where she collected three awards!)
