PBS has lined up some great shows as part of their upcoming Masterpiece Mystery season. Last week we bought you details and a sneak peak from Inspector Lewis and Page 8, today we have the trailer for Case Histories starring Jason Isaacs.
Isaacs, who you will likely recognize form the Harry Potter series in which he played Lucius Malfoy is going to be all over the place this fall. As well as appearing in Case Histories that will air on PBS this October, he will star alongside Taylor Lautner on the big screen in Abduction and he is also the lead in one of NBC’s most anticipated new shows, Awake (you can see the trailer and clips from Awake here)
Case Histories was a six part series in the UK, but PBS will air them as 3 two hour specials on consecutive weeks beginning Sunday October 16, at 9pm ET. Based on the acclaimed novels by Kate Atkinson, Isaacs plays the private investigator Jackson Brodie, a tough former soldier and policeman with a heart of gold. Set in the city of Edinburgh, Brodie is haunted by a past family tragedy and struggles to balance his personal and professional life while coming to the rescue of the bereaved, the lost and the dysfunctional.
As well as Isaacs, Case Histories has a strong female cast of Kirsty Mitchell, Zawe Ashton, Amanda Abbington and Millie Innes, add to that the beautiful setting and scenery of Edinburgh and this one should be good. Isaacs is a great actor and he will certainly have no trouble playing ‘a tough former soldier’ (I wouldn’t mess with him!) and I can’t wait to see him in both Case Histories and Awake over the coming months.
Take a look at the BBC trailer, an Interview with Isaacs that has a clip, plus some images from the show. Case Histories arrives on PBS Masterpiece Mystery October 16.
