Last week we brought you highlights of live performances at one of the popular summer music festivals in the UK, V Festival 2011. If that wasn’t enough then this week we bring you highlights of this past weekend’s Reading And Leeds Festival!
Like V Festival, Reading & Leeds is actually two festivals taking place in Reading, South East England and Leeds which is up in Yorkshire, North England. The two locations both have the same line-ups as the bands play at one location and then travel to the other and play their set there also.
Reading And Leeds however, is one of the oldest music festivals in Britain, dating back to 1961 when it was part of the National Jazz Festival. These days, the music is slightly different consisting of predominately rock n roll and indie but also showcases dance and new music via the BBC Introducing Stage.
This years festival was headlined by Muse, who played their Origins Of Symmetry album in it’s entirety before retiring it from the live stage once and for all. My Chemical Romance was also on the bill along with Pulp who have come out of retirement to play a few live shows. Luckily for us, their performance was captured which you can check out below. The headlining acts were just the tip of the iceberg as other bands who played at the weekend included Elbow, Friendly Fires, The Strokes, Interpol, The Streets, The Horrors, White Lies, the list goes on and on.
We have gathered up a collection of great performances that we managed to find from British bands who played this past weekend. These include some rock and indie rock from Beady Eye, Two Door Cinema Club, Noah And The Whale and The Kills.
Some more chilled out performances came from Bombay Bicycle Club and Everything Everything, plus an acoustic hip hop set from Delvin.
Veteran ska band Madness display their brass section and britpoppers Pulp performed their classic Disco 2000. One of my favorite performances of the lot is from folky/punk singer and songwriter Frank Turner, which I recommend you definitely check out.
Take a look below and minus the rainy weather, don’t you wish you were there this past weekend!
