Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright to Draft ‘The World’s End’ Before Star Trek 2

British legends in waiting Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have announced that they aim to start writing the eagerly anticipated third part of their Blood and Ice Cream trilogy before Pegg boldly goes off to shoot Star Trek 2. The third part has long been rumoured to be called The Worlds End.

After giving us the hugely funny and successful Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz Pegg and Wright took a break from the Frost, Pegg, Wright love in with Pegg going off to continue his burgeoning movie career and Wright directing Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Frost was also a busy boy starring in Paul with Pegg and Attack The Block.

In an interview with Ain’t it Cool News Pegg was asked about the expectation from fans concerning The World’s End:

Yeah, and I hope we sort of confound it in a way. I wouldn’t want to become predictable or be the guys who do that. The next thing that we do will hopefully be… you know, in writing our new thing, Edgar and me have been very determined – that we’re going to start in earnest very, very soon – to not just do the same thing again, to do something very different. Not to the point of alienating people who want something, but just give people something new and something different. You can’t just stay where you are forever. You have to mutate to survive, and I think we’re going to make sure that we do that. I’d hate to become stale and predictable. People are already making films that are kind of like the sort of thing we might do. I want to stay a little bit ahead of the curve at least.

Pegg was also questioned on how long we would have to wait until they start writing:

We already started the conception process, so it’s just a question of when we can get together. I’m just about to start shooting a movie here in the UK, so maybe between that and STAR TREK we might get a chance to bang out a first draft if we’re lucky.

From reading Pegg’s answer i don’t think we should be getting too excited just yet about The Worlds End as if they haven’t even put pen to paper yet and with both Pegg and Wrights stars firmly in the ascendency it’s likelyto be a good few years until we get to see anything on the big screen.
