It’s been at least a day since we last reported on a movie that, Oscar winning director of British movie the Kings Speech, Tom Hooper was supposedly directing next so here’s another one for you! Hooper has now been linked to a project to bring Deborah Moggach’s novel Tulip Fever to the big screen. Attempts have been made before to get the novel off the page but for various reasons have never come to fruition. Rumours suggest that Paramount and the Weinstein’s could co-finance the movie, that follows the story of a married woman and an artist hired to paint her portrait who begin a passionate affair in 17th century Amsterdam and gamble on the booming market for tulip bulbs as a way to raise money to run away together.
Tulip Fever is just one of a number of movies that Hooper is rumoured to be making next including; The Lady Who Went Too Far, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, Les Miserables and Queen of the East.
All we know so far is that it would be physically impossible for him to be making all of them so you will have to decide for yourself which one you think he will direct, it must be nice to be so popular!
