When a reporter is asked to cover a news story for regional TV on a ‘proper fighting gym’, run by Big Joe (played by Joe Egan) only just down the road, little does he know how events will unfold – particularly as his attention is drawn to a rival gym with a unique fighting style, owned by self-professed karate expert, Keith Kraft (played by Mark Noyce).
On the ropes is a mockumentary and has been described as Spinal Tap meets Rocky with a little of The Office mixed in for fun, and draws from the writer’s own direct experiences within the gym culture.
Without giving too much away, On the Ropes contains all the vital elements: intrigue, sex, parody, brinkmanship, comedy – oh – and there is the odd fight here and there too!
